Maize Grinding Mill
Maize is the staple food in all the African countries. There are millions of poor rural people in Africa having a small land for subsistence. They all grow their own maize for their own use. But unfortunately they have no small maize mills to grind their own maize in to maize flour. So they have to sell their maize to big maize mill owners at cheap rate and they have to purchase maize flour from big maize millers at very high rate. So there is a huge exploitation of common people of Africa in their basic need of food i.e. maize flour.
Moreover all rural people have to carry their maize bags on their head and walk a few km to maize mill to sell their maize and again carry on their head bags of maize flour. This is horrible situation.
Once I visited one big maize mill near Mutare, about 70 km from Harare in Zimbabwe where I saw the most horrible situation. People with their maize sacks were standing in a queue since 3 days just waiting to sell their maize and purchase maize flour. They all came carrying the maize sacks from 5 to 10 km away their villages. Maize mill was spoiled and waiting for repair.
I could not tolerate this horrible situation. Immediately after coming back to India, I designed tiny maize mill for small community village which is swinging hammer type machine crushing 40 to 50 kg maize per hour. Various screens are provided for desired fineness of flour. It works on 5 hp 2880 rpm electric motor. If there is no power in villages, 6 hp steam engine can be used to drive this maize mill.
So this product has been developed purely from the Philanthropic point of view.
